March 7-13 Is 'Week of Prayer for Healing of AIDS'

The HIV and AIDS crisis has already claimed more than 25 million lives and left millions of children as orphans. Join ELCA Presiding Bishop Mark S. Hanson and religious leaders across the country in the National Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS.

Chile Rocked by New Earthquakes

On March 11, Chile was rocked by two more earthquakes: a 7.2 magnitude near O’Higgins and a 6.9 magnitude southwest of Santiago.

ELCA Increases Haiti Commitment

Focusing on immediate provision of shelter and non-food items as the rainy season approaches, the ELCA announced it has increased its financial commitment by $2.5 million toward earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

Through Feb. 24 the ELCA has received more than $5.8 million in gifts in response to the earthquake, including a matching gift of $320,000 from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
